Built Heritage
Sites scheduled for development can be situated beside structures or buildings of built heritage value. Some may retain built heritage structures within the scope of the development, particularly in urban environments. These range from sites listed on the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage, the Record of Protected Structures, the development site being with an Architectural Conservation Area, or as archaeological sites listed as monuments. They typically range from the medieval period to the 19th century, but in unique circumstances into the 20th century.
Built heritage can impact upon proposed developments or indeed, developments can seek to incorporate built heritage within the remit of the development. Gregory Archaeology has extensive experience in managing the nuances of built heritage within the scope of developments. We engage in a sensitive and synergistic process on behalf of our clients, particularly from project inception and design phase, to ensure successful project outcomes.
